An original Papillon Press design...
Inspired by 18th Century French block printed wallpapers, this design of stylized foliage is reminiscent of these early prints. Early wallpapers were printed one sheet at a time before roll paper was invented, and the design repeats, as does this pattern. This print is printed on handmade cotton paper on our 1910 Potter Proof Press one at a time from a hand carved cherry wood block. We use archival vegetable based inks. Prints are hand printed on our Potter printing press from 1910 in our studio.
